About

My name is Bethany. I am a Stay at Home Mom of Two boy2005_1104beth0021bwccsqav.jpgs and also a Part-time photographer. I love to read and am always looking for something new. This blog was started in order for friends across miles to share books and thoughts together. It has resulted in members from a wide variety of ages and backgrounds and from all over the US. As you can see from our book list our books cover a wide genre of interest. I know many in the group are looking forward to reading together and talking about the good and the bad, what we have learned, what we found interesting, what we can relate to and a host of other fun discussions. Whether you join in and read with us or just stop by to read posts and discussions on the books, I hope this blog can be a resource and encouragement to you to keep reading!

If you would like to join us feel free to jump right in and start commenting on the current book.  When you have participated in discussions for at least one month I will send you the getting to know you questions and access to that part of the blog.  Otherwise you have access automatically to all other parts of the blog and we would love for you to join us.

Dear Bethany, I’ve been looking for a book club I could join since I’ve been in PA and was wondering if I could join yours. I’ve already read Queen Noor, Peace Like a River, & Till We Have Faces. Could I jump in on February’s book?

I’ve enjoyed reading some of your book discussions — my own group in Kansas City is to discuss Peace Like a River, tomorrow night, and I was “brushing up” online. We’re also slated to read The End of Faith, by Sam Harris, in a few months. Peace Like a River was my suggestion; I LOVED this book, and I resisted reading The End of Faith — it’s a dense, thorny book bound to provoke outrage in most everybody. As yours is a Christian group, and mine (mostly) isn’t, I HOPE you’ll consider looking at The End of Faith, because I fear my largely secular group of friends is not going to cover it adequately, and my favorite Christian friend is unavailable to weigh in with me (she’s undergoing treatment for cancer). Thanks!

Kim thanks for the recommendation. I will check it out. Maybe we can add it for next cycle. Right now we have our books through August. Each member picked one. Feel free to jump in with us anytime.

Bethany, I am interested in participating in your discussion. I am a mother of two teenagers. I also work part-time. I am a graphic designer with experience in designing websites, but I am new to blogging. It’s never too late to learn! Your group sounds exactly like what I have been looking for: serious and honest discussion of great literature. It’s refreshing to know that there are ladies out there who still want to think! 🙂 Thanks for considering me, Staci

Hi,

I’m not sure if this is the right place, but could I become a member? Thanks.
